I used a Scythe Hard DIsk Stabilizer 2 to do this. - Most front panel cables like Firewire, USB2&3, audio and the stock fan controller have been removed as they are not used and to prevent a mess of cables at the back. - I don't plan on using the top mounted hot swap Sata bay so I've removed the cable and am using it on one of my drives. - The fan noise in the video has been amplified quite a bit as the camera didn't pick it up very well, its quite quiet in person. This reduces the amount of space that windows sets aside in your hard drive for system restore backups and page file for ram. Disabling it entirely will make a program crash if you run out of RAM, so only do this if you have sufficient RAM to run all the programs you want to run. Using 2 of them with my Panasonic AG G3DA1, I can record the individual right and left channel coming out of the HDSD I port on the Panasonic and with the newly released firmware Adam OS 4, it gives me a choice of recording either ProRes HQ or DNxHD at anywhere from 220Mbps to 150Mbps at either 8-bit or 10-bit 4:2:2 color sampling. The best part of all is that it uses off the shelf SSD or 2.5 " hard drives. The results are beautiful and it puts you firmly in broadcast or film standards with almost any camera or DSLR. Here is how to install a SSD solid state hard drive in a computer. I bought a new computer with a 2 terrabyte standard hard drive, and I wanted to make it faster, so I bought a 120 GB SSD solid state hard drive and installed it in the computer. To replace the regular hard drive with a solid state drive in the computer, I used the manufacturer's backup utility to create backup disks, and then I removed the original hard drive, installed the SSD solid state drive, and did a system restore using the manufacturer's restore disks. The SSD hard drive is super fast, scoring a perfect 7.9 out of 7.9 in the Windows experience rating test. This is a cheap and easy way to make your computer super fast. The computer in the video is an Acer Predator A180-14006 with an Intel i7 2600 processor and an Invidia GT530 2GB video card. The SSD solid state hard drive is a Patriot Pyro. The computer cost 0 and the hard drive is 9.99 after rebate, so for under 00 I have an awesome super-fast computer. This is a worthwhile upgrade.

I've heard / seen ~20 second bootups too, but those are crazy. Maybe when I use it longer, it will smartly cache more things into the flash portion of the drive.

Solid State Hybrid Drive Reviews: I replaced my 500GB 5400rpm WD with this Momentus XT after doing exhausting research. I use my MacBoook Pro laptop for analytical work involving large datsets. Here is why I settled on the Momentus XT vs an SSD. Momentus XT - 4GB SLC SSD integrated into the hard drive for speedy access commonly used files - Although not as fast as an SSD, but soooo much cheaper than 300GB+ of SSD space. - More vibration and a little more noise than my WD 500GB, but not significantly so. - Mac OS X doesn't support TRIM. I was concerned that a SSD drive would slow down significantly overtime without it. - Toms Hardware highly recommended it over other 7200 rpm laptop hard drives. See their review for all the techy details. Note that the integrated SSD is used only for reading, not for writing. It essentially clones your commonly used files on the 4GB SSD. If you are looking for a sweet spot between speed and space this is it. The Momentus has a 4GB SLC SSD integrated into the hard drive which allows for very fast reads of commonly used data. This translates into really fast application loading like an SSD. It uses a learning algorithm to decide what to store on the SSD so it takes some time to get to optimal performance. Most people have a lot of data that is accessed infrequently on their hard drive. Thus an SSD is overkill since there isn't much benefit to to storing infrequently accessed on a really fast drive. This is my video tutorial of replacing the orginal HDD in the Dell Duo with an SSD version. This video should provide you with enough information to do the swap on your own. Note that I have windows already installed on my SSD. You will need to install the OS on your own - Please see my 1st video where I sort of show you that I boot from a USB drive to begin the install. Also the DUO is maxed out at 2GB of ram - but it will run x64 Windows but I do NOT recommend that.
